California Teens to Appear on National Anti-Obesity Special
with Bill Clinton

Participation in statewide campaign leads to national awareness of California campaign

Two California teens will be appearing on the Nickelodeon special “The Fight to be Fit” with President Bill Clinton airing Sunday, November 13th at 8:30pm

Allie, 15, of Antelope and Jessica, 13, of Roseville were invited to participate in the special for their roles in the California School Nutrition Association’s (CSNA) public service campaign “Stay fit. Eat right. Looking good, California!”

Allie is participating in an “Online Reality Fitness Challenge” on the campaign’s website in which she is following plans devised specifically for her by a registered dietitian and personal trainers.  Allie is documenting her health and fitness progress in an online journal at www.stayfiteatright.org.

Jessica is a contributor to the website, writing articles for her “My Mom’s Cocina Mexicana,” featuring recipes that utilize healthier ingredients in her mother’s heritage cuisine and their adventures in cooking together.

President Clinton, who has struggled with weight issues throughout his life, arranged the town hall-style special as part of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation which is an integral part of his William J. Clinton Foundation in conjunction with the American Heart Association and Nickelodeon. (Editor: See accompanying Nickelodeon press release)
