Stay Fit

Every year people spend a gazillion dollars on stuff that they think will make them lose weight, become smarter, get stronger, sleep better—even get better looking! But there’s a FREE way they can make all this happen and it seems CRAZY that more people don’t do it…EXERCISE! Yep, exercise and the right nutrition are the PHAT way to beat FAT.

Stuff like skateboarding, riding your bike, and walking your dog are great ways to get in shape (and the dog will love you).  Even dancing is an AWESOME way to be fit—and more fun.

Tell us how you get exercise….and if you can e-mail us a picture, that’d be great.   Hey, maybe we’ll post your favorite way to stay fit on this site in the future.  click here

I stay active and get most of my exercise from playing soccer. I play in a competitive under 12 soccer league. My team practices two times a week and we also work out one day of the week at a training center.  My coach plays on a college soccer team and trains us like she trains.  During training we do sprints, lift weights, pull-ups, sit-ups, crunches, push-ups, and the rowing machine. At practice we have to run laps around the soccer field and do wind sprints almost every practice.

Our coach also strongly encourages us to eat healthy before and after practices and games so we can play our best.

My parents and I go and work out every once in a while. We go to the gym and go on the treadmill or go play racquetball or ride bikes together.

Hey California, LOOKIN Good!

This is Kari and I am cRaZi about cheer!! I know what you are thinking: here comes a preppy stuck up girl that does not know anything, but I’m not. I know some of you may not think it, but cheer is a sport just like football and basketball! (Remember, Athletes lift weights…Cheerleaders lift Athletes) And just like any other sport, you have to keep healthy. I am 12 years old and trust me I know that it can be all about having a waist that is 2 inches and weighting 5 pounds, but that is not healthy. You have to choose healthy foods and not all junk food. That does not mean that you cannot have it sometimes, just not all the time.

I luvv being on the Kastner Intermediate Cheer and Competition teams which practices 4 hours a week. My equal luvv is belonging to the best travel cheer club in the Fresno area, Clovis Elite! I’m at their gym 3 nights a week and our coaches work us hard. After we practice our tumbling, stunting and choreography, they condition us with running, stomach strengtheners, push-ups…..the list goes on and on. Now I’m sure you know what I’m going to say…I have to eat right…especially healthy carbs so I will have the energy to perform at the best of my ability.

I know that cheer is my thing!! But if yours isn’t, then get out there and find something you like and stick with it. Remember, all you have to do is exercise daily, and eat the right balance of foods, and girls you will look and feel your best!!!

If you see me at a cheer competition (they will be everywhere) come say hi  !!!

Lots of Luvv <3

Hey there.

Taylor talkin' here. I'm 10 years old and live in Fresno, CA. You'd probably think I'm a video game freak because I am 10. Well the truth is I am. But that is not one of the things you need to do to stay healthy. Yeh, I know the excuse, "But mom, I'm keeping my fingers healthy." Believe me that one doesn't work anymore. Guess what, as well as a video game freak, I love running. I'm part of the Liberty Elementary School cross-country team. We run, run, and run about 2 miles a day.

The sport is a blast! My friends and I love running and laughing. Our track meets are awesome too! Everyone comes to cheer us on!

Our coaches tell us to do our personal best. We have to make sure we are in good shape so we can run fast and furious. You have to have enough energy to give you a mega mega mega ultra kick at the end of the race. So try to eat good foods and everything except for junk food. Now if you don't like to run, find something you like to do besides video games. You can scooter, skateboard, ride a bike, play football, basketball, baseball, soccer.... Just find something you like to do.

P.S. Computer counts as a video game.
