Burgers In a Healthy Style

These days, burgers really get an unfair rap. The first thing that comes to mind when you think of a burger is “unhealthy”.

It seems the hamburger has become the king of junk food, but does a burger really have to be junk food?

Great news! A good healthy hamburger can make a balanced meal.

Its hard to find a healthy hamburger when eating out ... but more great news... burgers are real easy to make at home.

Think about it, you might be surprised, you can make a good and healthy burger in about the same amount of time that it takes to drive to the nearest fast-food place, wait in line, order, and return home.

Cooking burgers is easier than learning how to ride a bike and the results taste better! In fact, even if you have never cooked anything before, try cooking a healthy burger, it is so easy, just don't forget to load on the healthy stuff!

How to make a healthy hamburger or vegiburger?

Easy! For a healthy burger, start with whole grain hamburger buns and extra lean ground beef, the label should say at least “90% lean”, or better yet, a vegiburger. If you want to add cheese, make it the lowfat kind.

Vegiburgers can be found in the frozen food section at the grocery store and are easy to prepare, Made with 100% natural ingredients, they are low in calories and fat and loaded with great flavor. Before you get started cooking, it is important to wash hands and kitchen surfaces with soap and water. Check your hamburger to make sure that it is cooked completely through and brown in the middle.

  • Drain off any fat that appears during cooking.
  • If you need to add salt, do it after you cook it because salt draws moisture out.
  • Broiling or grilling is better. In cooking, the burger is going to shrink. The higher the heat, the more the burger will shrink, but cooking at medium heat will help retain flavors and not dry out.
  • Gently turn burgers with a spatula. Never jab the patty with a fork to turn it -- You'll lose juices.

When your burger is cooked, load up your bun with your favorite condiments and a few of these healthy choices:
